The National Qualification for leading groups in the UK Hills. 

For experienced hill walkers who want to lead groups in areas such as Dartmoor, The Peak District, North York Moors and parts of the Brecon Beacons.  The comprehensive scheme covers training and assessment in the following subjects:

  • Hazards and Emergency Procedures

  • Equipment

  • Responsibilities of the leader

  • Group Management

  • Access, Conservation and Environmental Knowledge

  • Weather

MTA and BAIML Accredited workshop for supervising independent groups

We developed this course for a school nearly 10 years ago and it continues to prove valuable and popular.  Exploring the middle ground between direct supervision and complete independence the course covers:

  • Planning and preparation.

  • Personal competence - leaders and participants.

  • Assessing and managing risk.

  • Strategies for remote group management.

  • Managing multiple groups. 

we run several open courses a year and run closed course fro organisations such as the Scouts, schools and DofE(this is not the supervisors course)

For those on the RCI (or SPA) scheme who may be a bit rusty

Single day workshop which can cover any aspects of the scheme syllabus. Attendees must have completed a Rock Climbing Instructor or Single Pitch Award Training course
